Making friends is easy at Nature’s Edge Buderim

Did you know people with more social connections are happier and healthier? In fact, studies show that having a healthy network of friends can help you live longer, lower your blood pressure and decrease your chances of experiencing depression!

While it’s often easier for women to make new friends, recent research suggests it’s just as important for men to form strong male connections, especially as they get older.

Fortunately, making friends has never been easier at Nature’s Edge Buderim over 50’s lifestyle community. Just ask resident Tom Hawke, who meets regularly with other like-minded male residents for a beer and a chat.

“We just have a few beers and have a good laugh and catch up on what’s happening,” says Tom.

“Sometimes we go to each other’s houses but it’s great to have the Leisure Centre on site. We treat it as our local where we can go and play a game of pool and enjoy a few drinks and we don’t have to drive home afterwards. You meet so many nice people there, the social group just keeps growing and growing.

“As a couple, we have made lots of new friends here. Last Friday evening, eight or nine couples went out for a meal together and we had a ball!”

Avid travellers, Tom and his wife Doreen enjoy travelling Australia in their Winnebago, but with so many friends at Nature’s Edge Buderim, Tom says it’s hard to go away for too long!

“We are just getting ready for our next trip to Cairns and the Daintree but we generally don’t do long trips because our friends here say ‘Why are you going away again?’” he laughs. “We have met so many nice people here.”

Tom’s wife Doreen couldn’t agree more. Part of the table tennis group and a talented member of the sewing circle at Nature’s Edge Buderim, Doreen says it was the warm welcome and friendly atmosphere that attracted them to the beautiful over 50’s lifestyle resort.

“It’s excellent. You couldn’t ask for a nicer place to live,” says Doreen. “We looked at a lot of over 50’s communities but Nature’s Edge Buderim really stood out. I think it’s because they just make you feel so welcome.”

Friendship, fun and lots of laughs … looks like the residents at Nature’s Edge Buderim have all the right ingredients for a long, happy, healthy life!
