Things are warming up at Nature’s Edge Buderim!

The social calendar kicked back into full swing at Nature’s Edge Buderim with the first sell out event held in July!

Although COVID-19 restrictions meant that only 80 residents could attend the celebratory Winter Warmers dinner, 40 wonderful volunteers grouped together to ensure that the night would be a booming success.

Tickets for the event flew out the door as soon as they were announced. With a delectable dinner prepared by fellow resident and foodie, Michael Granger, entertainment by the debuting Nature’s Edge Trio plus the first round of drinks supplied on the house to celebrate the occasion, you can easily understand why!

Social club member and event co-ordinator Jayne Turnbull explains, “It was a fabulous night and without the volunteers we wouldn’t have been able to be pull it off.” Prior to the event all 40 volunteers completed a micro-credential TAFE course on COVID Safe for Dining In. This ensured that all residents were safeguarded by COVID safe practices.

With the help of the volunteers, the residents were served a delicious main course of hearty slow cooked lamb shanks in a rich red wine sauce, on a bed of sweet potato mash, with tender greens. A scrumptious dessert of homemade apple pie finished the meal just perfectly.

The evening’s entertainment was provided by the Nature’s Edge Trio who made their debut on the night. With Fay on the keyboard, Alan leading the song and playing guitar and Steve on drums, the accomplished trio performed a beautiful and relaxed arrangement, to the delight of all!

With a roaring Soup & Trivia luncheon held last Saturday, the social calendar remains busy. Jayne and her team are now looking forward to this year’s Melbourne Cup (COVID dependent), as they have arranged for local boutique fashion shop owner, Michelle from Onyx Poppy, to run a ‘Fashions of the Edge’ fashion parade.

With a brand new BBQ, set under cover beside the state-of-the-art bowling green, the tennis court in full swing, the bar back up and running for social pool and Friday night Happy Hour drinks on the rainforest deck, the days really are warming up for the residents at Nature’s Edge Buderim.
